Difference between waterproof cable and water blocking cable

Waterproof cable: It is to prevent water from entering the interior of the cable structure. The structure and material with waterproof function are adopted on the cable sheath.
Water blocking cable: It is the assessment that allows water to enter the interior of the cable, but it is not allowed to penetrate to the specified length under the specified conditions. Water blocking cable is divided into conductor water blocking and cable core water blocking.
Conductor water blocking structure: Generally, water blocking powder and water blocking yarn are added during the monofilament stranding process between the strands of the stranded conductor. When the conductor enters the water, the water blocking powder or the water blocking yarn inflates with water to prevent the water from penetrating. Of course, the solid conductor has the best water blocking performance.
Cable core water blocking structure: single core cable is more convenient, one or more layers of water blocking tape are wrapped around the copper shield, and then the outer jacket is squeezed. When the outer jacket is damaged and water enters, the water blocking belt expands due to water swelling. The inner and outer surfaces of the water-blocking zone are all cylinders. When the water-blocking zone expands, a water-blocking section is formed quickly, which prevents the further penetration of water. For the three-core cable, it is very difficult for the cable core to completely block water because the three cores The middle gap of the cable core is large and irregular, that is, all the water blocking tapes are filled, and the water blocking effect is also not good. It is suggested that each core should be produced by a single core water blocking structure and then be cabled.
