Antenna polarization
The polarization of radio waves refers to the relationship between the direction of the electric field and the direction of propagation. It represents the orientation of the electric field vector in the direction of maximum radiation. In practice, due to the different placement of the transmitting antennas, the electric field has only vertical or parallel components to the ground. The former is called a vertically polarized wave. Our broadcast transmitting antenna is perpendicular to the ground, so it is vertically polarized The latter is called horizontally polarized wave. The horizontally polarized wave is used for TV and FM broadcasting in China, and their transmitting antennas are balanced on the ground, as shown in Figure 2. There are also spirally polarized waves, known as left and right spiral polarization.
